Winston, the long-time lobby doorman at the Training Center building, passed away this week. The UCB office staff found out about his death last night.

     I had a cigarette with Winston after class a year ago probably - he started telling me about his grandkids and how good his grandson is at soccer and how his boys call him every day, and while we were talking his phone rang and it was his son calling to say hi.  He was obviously very loved.

     I also remember he had a funny nickname for Neil Casey - I don’t remember what it is, maybe it was just “Big Guy”, but I feel like it was something funnier - anyway I just remember Winston telling me he thought Neil Casey was a “cool dude”.

     I’m sad I won’t see him next time I go to class.
